I am a professor in The Honors College at the University of Houston, where I am also the Director of Speech & Debate. I received my Ph.D. from the University at Buffalo’s English Department, where I wrote my dissertation on the literature and history of slave narratives and sentimental fiction in early America.
As a debate coach I worked at Emory, NYU, Columbia, and Harvard before moving back to my home state of Texas and the University of Houston. In the Honors College, I teach the gateway course taken by all Honors College first-years, The Human Situation. I also teach in our Leadership Studies minor.
